Tim O’Donnell and Mirinda Carfrae Return to St. Croix For The Beauty & The Beast Triathlon

September 18, 2019

Escape to America's Paradise this December

One of the most famous triathlon couples is set to return to St. Croix on December 8, 2019 for The Beauty & The Beast Triathlon. Tim O’Donnell and Mirinda Carfrae recently announced they would be heading to the island to each compete on a relay team in the long-distance race. St. Croix holds a special place in the triathletes’ hearts, as it’s where they began their love story in 2009. O’Donnell has nine IRONMAN® 70.3 victories, including two wins in St. Croix, two IRONMAN® wins and six Armed Forces National Championships. Carfrae, who has been atop the podium seven times at the IRONMAN® World Championships and still holds its run course record, has competed on St. Croix six times, which include four 1st place finishes.

Wendy Ingraham, who posted nine top 10 finishes at the IRONMAN® World Championships, has also committed to join the pair in America’s Paradise. Not only will fellow athletes have a chance to race with and against these triathlon legends, but they will also have an opportunity to hear their stories and tips during a pro talk the day before the race.

VI TRI, a non-profit committee and organizers of Beauty & The Beast Triathlon, will donate all race proceeds to local charities, including the Virgin Islands Special Olympics, Guardians of Culture Moko Jumbies and the Lighthouse Mission. The triathlon in St. Croix is most known for its beautiful landscape, year-round tropical weather and a challenging course. Joining O’Donnell, Carfrae and Ingraham has never been easier as no passports are required for U.S. Citizens and American Airlines has recently waived their oversized luggage fees for bicycles.

Race registration is currently on sale until October 31, 2019. For more details, visit www.virginislandstriathlon.com.
