Toyota Rock ‘n’ Roll Concert Series will take place following the race on Sunday, Oct. 7 at Plaza de Cesar Chavez in Downtown San Jose at 11:15 am
TAMPA, Fla./SAN JOSE, Calif. (May 30, 2018) – The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series® is excited to announce MarchFourth as the headliner for the 2018 Rock ‘n’ Roll® San Jose Half Marathon. On Sunday, October 7, MarchFourth will take to the Toyota Rock ‘n’ Roll Concert Series stage at Plaza de Cesar Chavez at 11:15 a.m. to close out a great two-day event that will include more music than ever before. The concert will be free and open to the public.
Hailing from Portland, Oregon, MarchFourth is an internationally-acclaimed, genre-breaking musical and performance group that offers a sonic explosion of sound delivered by 20 musicians, dancers and artisans who travel the world, year-round, taking audience members of all ages, from all walks of life, on a joy-inducing, foot-stomping, booty-shaking, soul-stirring journey that defies categorization. The musically themed Rock ‘n’ Roll San Jose Half Marathon is known for Bringing the Fun to the Run™ and will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 7. While taking in some of the scenery surrounding California’s fastest half marathon. This flat and fast course is jam packed with spectator support, boomin’ bands at every mile, all new mile-markers that literally rock and picturesque views of downtown San Jose. Participants will experience great runner support and community engagement as they move along to the music with live on-course bands, and race pacers who will be running with mobile speaker packs.
Runners will start at W. Santa Clara St. and Almaden Blvd. and tour the sights of the Bay Area city. The half marathon course will run past City Hall, through Japantown, out and back on The Alameda and through the Rose Garden neighborhood. The event comes to an exciting and scenic finish at the Plaza de Cesar Chavez in downtown San Jose.
The Rock ‘n’ Roll San Jose Half Marathon will feature two days of running with the Rock ‘n’ Roll San Jose 5K presented by Brooks starting at 7:30 am and KiDS ROCK at 9:00 am on Saturday, October 6, followed by the half marathon on Sunday, June 3. Participants can take on the “Remix Challenge” by running both Saturday and Sunday to earn the coveted Remix Challenge medal in addition to each race’s finisher medals.
Race weekend kicks off with a Health & Fitness Expo on Friday, October 5 from 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, October 6 from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center, West Hall. The expo will showcase vendors featuring the latest in running gear, nutrition and training and is free and open to the public.
