GFNY appoints Nicolas Garcera as GFNY Head of Europe

November 2, 2016

NEW YORK CITY, November 2, 2016 – The global cycling marathon series, GFNY, appoints Nicolas Garcera as GFNY’s Head of Europe. In his role, Nico will oversee existing GFNY races in Europe, evaluate bids and bring new races onboard.

“Endurance cycling events have a long-standing tradition in the ‘old’ Europe,” says GFNY CEO Uli Fluhme. “Most of the best cycling races are in the traditional cycling countries. It’s imperative for us to offer our unique GFNY experience there as well. But we’re particularly eager to expand in the ‘new’ Europe where cycling is increasingly popular but still lacks mass participation cycling events.”

“As co-organizer GFNY Mont Ventoux, a former pro cyclist and self-proclaimed cycling nerd, Nico is the perfect person to oversee our existing European GFNYs and to onboard new events,” says GFNY President, Lidia Fluhme.

Nico Garcera is an Elite road racer and former professional mountainbiker. In 2014, he co-founded GFNY Mont Ventoux together with his life partner Lucie Hiegel. The inaugural GFNY Mont Ventoux was the first mass participation cycling race to finish atop the legendary mountain.
