January 25-27, 2019 - Tempe, AZ - Where the Business of Triathlon Gets Done
AUSTIN, TX (November 20, 2018) – Triathlon Business International (TBI) today announced its Day 1 agenda for the 9th annual TBI Conference January 25-27, 2019 in Tempe, AZ.
Check-in for the 2019 conference begins Friday morning in the lobby of the Palms Ballroom at the Tempe Mission Palms Hotel, with the first General Session slated to start at 1 p.m. Registration for TBI members is $475 and $575 for nonmembers through Dec. 9. On Dec. 10, both prices increase $50.
Gary Roethenbaugh, founder of MultiSport Research, will lead General Session I – Research and What It Tells Us – with a topline overview of TBI’s 5th Industry Confidence Survey which will be launched next month. Roethenbaugh will also talk about what the year-over-year data shows related to the industry trends that have unfolded over the five years the Confidence Survey has been conducted (2015 – 2019).
Following Roethenbaugh’s data and industry trends presentation, he and Nick Lehecka will have a question-and- answer-style session about the data collected from the recent race directors survey that asked race participants about their perceptions, beliefs and opinions of their race experiences. This study, authored by Lehecka, asked questions about escalating registration pricing structures, fees at registration, transfer policies and generally what participants like, want and expect from race directors and their race operation. Wrapping up the Research session will be snapshot reports from various race directors around the country about their participant numbers over the past several years; are they increasing, decreasing, remaining flat?
Social Media (SM) is next on the schedule as last year’s post-conference survey showed that attendees want more information about how to do social media better with the resources available to them, what’s new in the SM arena and how improved customer service can be employed through social media. This part-presentation, part attendee-interaction session will be led by Ryan Heisler who has more than a decade of experience in marketing, communications and retail sales experience, particularly in the digital content field, and who is a triathlete himself.
One of the most popular general sessions is Speed Networking and attendees will be talking fast and trading business cards as the last session on Friday. It will be followed by a convivial networking reception in the courtyard of the hotel. The speedy contacts made during Speed Networking can be delved into while enjoying the balmy evening air of Tempe.
Five awards also will be given Friday afternoon: Best Published Article of 2018, Best Published Photo of 2018; Best Event Video; the Jason Kilderry Influential Coach Award and the Fastest Growing Tri Club.
