Race registration platform handles mass volume of registrations to successful sell out
SAN DIEGO, California & RICHMOND, Virginia – May 28, 2013 – Race It and the Army’s annual Army Ten-Miler (ATM) have successfully registered a field of 35,000 participants for the 2013 event. The registrations happened in record time over two unique periods.
Priority registration, presented by Navy Federal Credit Union, opened on May 1 for 10,000 U.S. Service Members and legacy runners, reaching capacity in just 11 hours. General registration opened on May 15 for the remaining 25,000 entries and sold out just 9 hours. ATM’s 2012 general registration also sold out just 9 hours but had 5,000 less entries.
“This is the Army’s premier running event,” said Tim Dunne, General Manager of Race It. “With any marquee event there can be surge registration events like the ones we saw on May 1 and May 15, and Race It’s infrastructure, platform and customer service have been constructed to handle these situations. When we noticed latency in registration times due to unprecedented interest, we quickly provisioned additional resources to handle the volumes and meet the demands.”
The race will be conducted Sunday, Oct. 20 in Washington, DC at the U.S. Pentagon.
“We are pleased to see that the Army’s race continues to have strong demand because of its Tradition of Excellence. Heavy volume in the opening hour resulted in some registration delays, but our registration contractor quickly resolved the issue,” said Jim Vandak, race director.
For runners who missed the priority and general registration sessions they can still gain ATM entry through the Transfer Program that opens Jun 1st. Complete race information is at ArmyTenMiler.com.
