Professional triathlete and top ten finisher at the IRONMAN World Championships the past two seasons, Sarah Piampiano, announces that she has signed multi-year contracts with two new partners for the 2017 season and beyond.
Piampiano will be the marquee athlete for the UK-based triathlon brand, Zone3, as they further their expansion into the North American market.
“I’m thrilled about working with Zone3. I have been amazed by the shoulder flexibility I felt when swimming and how natural the wetsuit felt,” shares Piampiano. “In wetsuit testing the Zone3 suit tested faster than any other – in some cases up to 6 seconds/100 yards faster!” She adds, “it brings me confidence that I’m in the fastest product on the market, and it is exciting to work with Zone3 to help them expand in the U.S market.”
“I am extremely excited to welcome Sarah to headline the Zone3 Pro roster for 2017 and beyond,” says Rich Allen, head of Zone3 USA. “Sarah is not only a class athlete with potential to win Kona, but shows outstanding professionalism. There is no better role model.”
Piampiano also announces today a partnership with SOS, a company that has developed a doctor formulated hydration mix with the correct balance of electrolytes for optimal absorption.
Having tested the mix at the end of the 2016 season with resounding success, Piampiano decided to incorporate SOS’ mix into her hydration strategy for long-course triathlon training and racing.
Piampiano understands that hydration is such a critical component of being able to successfully execute an Ironman race, as well as manage through heavy training days. “Not only does performance decline, but recovery becomes impaired when hydration levels are not optimized,” she explains, “and SOS is simply outstanding when it comes to hydration and re-hydration when it matters most.”
“I’m delighted to welcome Sarah to SOS Team Elite,” says James Mayo, co-founder of SOS. “I’ve known Sarah for several years and have been impressed by her delightful personality, character, talent and her ‘never-say-die attitude’. Electrolyte replacement is a huge part of an Ironman triathlete’s game and is often overlooked with dehydration affecting performance by up to 20%.”
