Zwift Partners With Canyon and Pedal Mafia to Launch Junior Development Team Built To Put A North American Rider Back on the Top Step of the Tour De France Podium Within A Decade

June 11, 2026

Zwift, Canyon Bicycles, and Pedal Mafia have launched a new North American U19 junior development team with the ambitious goal of producing a Tour de France or Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift winner within the next decade. The project will include both men’s and women’s junior squads featuring riders from the United States, Canada, and Mexico, who will compete in races across North America and Europe.

The initiative aims to address a significant gap in professional cycling: it has been over 20 years since a North American rider stood on the top step of the Tour de France in Paris, and the partners are committed to changing that statistic. Eric Min, Zwift’s founder, emphasized this long-term commitment to developing continental talent capable of reaching the highest levels of the sport.

The team is scheduled to launch later this year, with its first full European training camp planned for December ahead of the 2027 racing season. This development pathway represents a significant investment in young North American cyclists, providing them with competitive opportunities on both continents to hone their skills against international competition.
