The course will be lined with live local bands, eclectic entertainment and thousands of spectators, culminating with a huge finish line festival and the Toyota Rock ‘n’ Roll Concert Series featuring headliner The Monophonics. Since 2012, the Bay Area’s Monophonics have released multiple 45’s and LP’s that are warranted as some of the most unique and original sounding records in the soul and funk scene. The psychedelic soul band Monophonics will rock the Civic Center Plaza helping participants celebrate the day’s accomplishments.
More than 9,000 running enthusiasts of all levels will participate in this 13.1-mile block party that highlights San Francisco’s most famous spots and sprawling ocean views. This year’s new, improved course starts in Golden Gate Park, taking runners across the Golden Gate Bridge, and along Crissy Field with skyline views before ending in the heart of the city at Civic Center Plaza. Fitness fans are welcome to line the course to enjoy the entertainment and cheer on participants.
“From the new start in Golden Gate Park to the hills in the Richmond District, the course provides elevation changes with stunning views the entire way,” said Event Manager, Miyoko Beetem. “Whether it’s your first half marathon or your fiftieth, runners can expect a tour of the city’s major landmarks, including the rare opportunity to run across closed lanes of the Golden Gate Bridge. Live local bands, entertainment stations, and a rocking’ finish line festival create a memorable and entertaining race in true Rock ‘n’ Roll fashion.”
