(November 19, 2013) – Revolution 3 is expanding their 2014 race line-up, adding Morgantown REV3 Weekend August 1-3. The events are nestled in Morgantown, a quaint town in the countryside hills of West Virgina. The race location caters to the Rev3 athletes and families, with a challenging, fair course and a plethora of activities for family.
“We are excited to have this multi-day event come to Morgantown. The three-day components provide something for all ages to participate in by utilizing the assets along our rail to trails and river area. We are looking forward to working with Revolution 3,” Dave Plevich, the Executive Director of the Greater Morgantown Convention and Visitors Bureau said.
The weekend will include multiple events including a Friday evening 5K Glow run on the Caperton Trail system, a USARA sanctioned national championship qualifying sprint adventure race and a family adventure race on Saturday. Sunday’s highlights are an Olympic distance triathlon as well as a Half Rev. The Half REV offers a professional race with prize money available for all Professionals.
Sunday’s races feature a rectangular swim in the Monongahela River starting and finishing near the Morgantown Marina. The scenic bike course is one loop for Olympic distance and two loop for the half rev distance. The course follows along the Caperton Trail for the first couple of miles and quickly heads out into the quaint country side of West Virginia and Pennsylvania. A challenging and fair course, the bike features long rolling hills and a very rural route.
“We are really excited for the athletes to see this course! It combines everything we love into one route. Challenging climbs, scenery that will keep you engaged and some flats to give you a break. Add some shade, and a run along the river and you have a recipe for success!
The run showcases a one loop for the Olympic distance and two loops for the Half Rev on the shaded and flat Caperton trail, alongside the Monongahela river.
In a unique change, the finish line will be located inside the host hotel, Waterfront Place Hotel.
“Morgantown is just a fun little town. The Monongahela river is one of my favorite places to swim. We have beautiful country roads for cycling, a flat railtrail for running, and a finish line within walking distances of local shops and restaurants. I am so excited to see what Rev3 brings to this venue,” local athlete Sarah Quesen said.
