Introducing XTERRA Virtual Racing and Rally Around XTERRA Planet Challenge

XTERRA VR kicks off July 15 with the Rally Around XTERRA Planet Challenge: a 30-day quest calling for the worldwide XTERRA community to join together in human-powered movement to collectively circumnavigate the planet – roughly 40,000 kilometers – as many times as possible.

Honolulu, HI (July 7, 2020) – XTERRA today announced the 2020 XTERRA Virtual Race Series, a universal collection of dynamic challenges to unite and inspire the global race community.

XTERRA VR kicks off July 15 with the Rally Around XTERRA Planet Challenge: a 30-day quest calling for the worldwide XTERRA community to join together in human-powered movement to collectively circumnavigate the planet – roughly 40,000 kilometers – as many times as possible.

“It’s ambitious, it’s exciting, and it’s going to be a whole lot of fun,” said XTERRA President Janet Clark.  “XTERRA has always been about bringing people together to celebrate the outdoors and the world around us, and that’s what this is all about. Challenge yourself, race with the world, and revel in the outdoors.  I can’t wait to see how many rotations of the planet this Tribe of ours can manage.”

The Rally Around XTERRA Planet Challenge is open to everyone – individuals, families, and relay teams and it’s free to enter.  To be part of the movement, participants simply need to swim, bike, hike, walk, run, rollerblade, or otherwise move without a motor and log the distances online at xterraplanet.com.

RAXP will support GlobalGiving’s Coronavirus Relief Fund to assist communities around the world in their efforts to stop the COVID-19 pandemic.

All challengers receive a digital XTERRA VR Passport to collect commemorative stamps, earn discounts on gear and share progress and photos with the community through #xterravr.  Leaderboards will post real-time results to track global progress and highlight the most prolific men, women, families, and teams.

Following the Rally Around XTERRA Planet Challenge, XTERRA VR will roll-out a series of eight races designed to highlight the regional championships in places XTERRA races from Europe to the Asia-Pacific, Americas, and Maui as home to the World Championship.

“Each race will last five days, Thursday to Monday, to reflect our typical on-site event week and each region will select a charity to support with donations from participants,” said Clark.

Race offerings will rotate between 5K, 10K, 21K runs, “5x5K” relays, and run/bike duathlons. Full program details are available at www.xterraplanet.com.
