Korea’s new viral running trend is really, really slow
August 18, 2026
We’ve all heard of Type 2 running, and you’re probably already incorporating some very easy jogging into your routine. But what if you went even slower? There’s a new type of running that’s gone viral in South Korea and beyond, and at first glance, it looks almost like walking.
It’s called slow jogging, and the pace is truly slow by any marker. According to a recent CivicNews report, runners are moving at roughly four to six km/hr; that works out to 10 to 15 minutes per kilometre. For many runners, that’s slower than their warmup jog, or even their warmup walk.
But these participants are still running, moving with short, light steps, often in large groups or lines. Canadian Running
