/ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – This Sunday marks the inaugural Challenge Gallipoli in Türkiye as athletes from around the world race in possibly one of the most evocative triathlon destinations. Set on the site of one of the most defining battles of the First World War, Challenge Gallipoli is a middle distance race in the heart of the protected historical area with its rugged and battle-marked landscapes and a far-reaching views over the Dardanelles, offering athletes a unique triathlon experience that extends far beyond the sport itself.

To hold a triathlon here is a great privilege as we value the peace the sacrifice of those before us enabled. There is no doubt this is a race to remember for so many reasons – the history, the outstanding natural beauty, the warm Turkish hospitality and a route that transcends the course of time.

Alongside several hundred age group athletes from 19 nations, a small male pro field will take on this historic course for the first time with Ognjen Stojanović (SRB) the race favourite following his recent second place at Challenge Cesenatico.
