New York’s Bandit Grand Prix takes unsanctioned racing to the next level

June 2, 2026

On Saturday, Bandit Running staged the second edition of the Bandit Grand Prix, a Formula One-inspired running event that drew thousands of spectators and competitors to Brooklyn, N.Y. As the running boom continues its upward trajectory, athletes are looking for any opportunity to race, and the Brooklyn-based running brand took advantage with one of the most interesting races you’ll see.

More than 1,200 participants took part in the inaugural 2025 event, including NCAA athletes and former Olympians. After a resounding success last year, Bandit increased the field to 3,000 runners and added a non-binary division in 2026.

Athletes from 21 countries and 45 American states competed on a nine-turn 1 km course (dubbed The Storehouse) that wound inside and outside of a Brooklyn warehouse. The Storehouse was lined with spectators, a DJ playing music and red lights, creating a festival atmosphere. After racing concluded in the evening, the finish line was transformed into a dance floor for an after-party that lasted until midnight. CANADIAN Running Magazine
