The ERBC is a prestigious occasion and one of the largest and most influential events in the world of running. The conference attracts delegates from all over the world, predominantly European organisers of mass participation events and sports federations, who gather to discuss the future of the sport. Also, during the conference, the prize “European Race of the Year” will be awarded. This year’s event will focus on sustainability and how the industry can attract younger generations to running.

Stockholm is a popular destination for runners and the adidas Stockholm Marathon is regarded as having one of the world’s most scenic routes. The city has a great reputation for hosting large events, particularly following the success of the Eurovision Song Contest in 2016. The Stockholm region has been a frontrunner when it comes to mass participation events; Lidingö Loppet, Stockholm Marathon and Midnattsloppet have been first of their kind in Europe. The region is and has been an enabler for development and investments in public health. The biggest events in Sweden are arranged in collaboration with local Sports Associations which is unique to the Nordic region, and something Stockholm as a city can be proud of.
