Weston Park Welcomes XTERRA World Cup Stop #3

April 30, 2025

STAFFORDSHIRE, UK (April 30, 2025) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/The XTERRA World Cup arrives at historic Weston Park estate, Staffordshire, from May 3-4, 2025, marking the third stop of this year’s global series. Elite athletes from around the world will compete for a €15,000 prize purse and valuable series points in a fully traffic-free setting, showing off some of the UK’s finest off-road terrain.

Current World Cup leader Alizée Paties (FRA), undefeated this season, is set for her Weston Park debut. “I’ve never been here before, so it’s all new,” said Paties. “The course looks fast and green. Recovery from last weekend’s race in Greece is key.”

Chasing Paties, Marta Menditto (ITA), second in the current standings, remains cautious but optimistic. “With travel, recovery is tough,” Menditto said. “Weston Park seems flat and fast, making it a strategic race. This is my first race in England—I’m excited.”

On the men’s side, defending World Cup Champion Felix Forissier (FRA), fresh off a victory in Greece, highlights the challenge ahead. “Weston Park is completely unknown to me, but I’ve heard it’s extremely quick. The atmosphere should be thrilling.”

Michele Bonacina (ITA), third overall, anticipates a dynamic race: “Flat and fast courses change strategy. I need to adapt quickly to whatever Weston Park offers.”

The Elite course features a 1.5K lake swim, a 37K technical bike ride mixing woodland singletrack and gravel paths, and a flat, fast 10K run past Weston Park’s majestic Manor House.

“Bike handling and pacing will be key,” explained UK Elite athlete Kerri-Ann Upham, who finished sixth in Greece. “Weston Park isn’t the most technical, but the twisty singletrack rewards smooth riding. The run will be fast—expect aggressive racing.”

Doug Hall, XTERRA EMEA General Manager, and Carel Du Plessis, XTERRA Visual Content Director, emphasized the community experience: “This is our most ambitious Weston Park yet—expanded racing, youth events, and festival activities.”

The weekend also offers 58 slots to September’s XTERRA World Championship for age group athletes. Local age-grouper Lauren Turley (GBR), division winner in 2024, highlighted accessibility: “Weston Park showcases classic British countryside—beautiful and approachable, making it ideal for everyone.”

Weston Park, a 17th-century estate managed by the Weston Park Foundation, provides a unique historic backdrop. Jennifer Astbury, Head of Estate Operations, expressed excitement: “We’re thrilled to welcome XTERRA again. The festival unites sport, culture, and community spirit in this beautiful setting.”

The XTERRA Youth Tour adds excitement with rising talent competing in Super Sprint and Sprint distances. Defending Junior champion Nathan Walker (GBR) aims for another victory: “Winning here was my first XTERRA experience, and the community atmosphere is incredible.”

XTERRA Weston Park, supported by Weston Park Foundation, Always Aim High Events, Eventrex UK, and local partners, promises fierce competition and family-friendly festivities throughout the weekend.
