COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — USA Triathlon, the National Governing Body for the sport of triathlon in the United States, and the organization’s women’s committee have released “The Women’s Guide to Triathlon,” with expert advice on training, techniques and equipment specifically for women participating in the sport.
“The Women’s Guide to Triathlon” is available now at humankinetics.com and features insight and instruction from 20 women who have created a legacy in the sport as athletes and coaches. Contributors include 2008 Olympian Sarah Haskins, ITU World Champion Siri Lindley, three-time XTERRA World Champion Melanie McQuaid, 2008 Paralympian and 2016 Paralympic hopeful Melissa Stockwell, experienced yogi Sage Rountree, Olympic cycling and triathlon coach Gale Bernhardt, and more.
This guide includes 18 chapters and nearly 300 pages covering the unique demands facing today’s female triathletes, with the most effective strategies for training and competing through all of life’s stages; avoiding and overcoming common injuries; and balancing the constant demands of the sport, family, and work. “The Women’s Guide to Triathlon” also includes tips specific to each of the sport’s three disciplines, strength training and nutrition.
“I applaud this book created by USA Triathlon to educate women on the sport of triathlon,” said Marisol Casado, ITU President and IOC Member. “It contains a wealth of information for anyone looking to get started in triathlon to those looking to hone their skills, written by women for women. Triathlon can be an intimidating sport to start, but this book breaks down everything you need to know, making it that much easier for women to join our wonderful community.”
Compiled by USA Triathlon and Tara Comer, chair of the USA Triathlon Women’s Committee, “The Women’s Guide to Triathlon” is a comprehensive resource for women of all ages and ability levels within the sport. This guide is USA Triathlon’s second educational publication; “The Complete Triathlon Guide” was published in 2012.
