Bike for a Kid in Partnership with FLO Cycling
In addition to the grant funding, the IRONMAN Foundation, in partnership with FLO Cycling and Boys and Girls Club of Dane County, will host a “Bike for a Kid” pop-up service project in the IRONMAN Village from Thursday, September 5 through Saturday, September 7. Athletes who participate in the 2019 IRONMAN Wisconsin triathlon, along with their families and friends, are invited to visit the IRONMAN Foundation booth to assemble a bike for local kids in need. A total of 100 bikes will be built and distributed to children within the region.
The IRONMAN Foundation’s additional grant funding to local groups will include a $35,000 Community Grant to the Madison Area Sports Commission to support the programming of Dane County youth organizations that connect children to sports activities.
The IRONMAN Foundation Community Fund provides community and volunteerism grant opportunities to non-profit organizations where IRONMAN events are held. In 2019, the IRONMAN Foundation will distribute more than $1.8 million in grant funding to support the needs of IRONMAN race communities across North America.
About Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation
Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation was founded in 2005 in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, when Firehouse Subs Founders, Chris Sorensen and Robin Sorensen, traveled to Mississippi where they provided food to first responders and survivors. As they traveled back to Florida, they knew they could do more and Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation was born with the mission of providing funding, lifesaving equipment and educational opportunities to first responders and public safety organizations. Since its inception, the non-profit organization has granted more than $44 million to hometown heroes in 49 states, Puerto Rico and Canada.
