The IRONMAN Foundation to provide an additional $80,500 in charitable giveback to the greater Madison region
MADISON, Wis./TAMPA, Fla. (September 5, 2018) – The IRONMAN Foundation® will partner with the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation to provide more than $8,000 in critical life-saving equipment to the Madison Police Department. In addition, the IRONMAN Foundation will distribute an additional $80,500 in charitable giveback to non-profit initiatives and groups in the greater Madison region in conjunction with the 2018 IRONMAN® Wisconsin triathlon taking place on Sunday, September 9, bringing the total awarded to date to $1,127,500 to more than 200 local organizations.
Now in their fifth year of partnership, the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation and the IRONMAN Foundation program has provided more than $342,000 in equipment to 27 first responder organizations in 12 IRONMAN race communities. The Madison Police Department will receive 20 helmets and helmet mounted lights and accessories.

The IRONMAN Foundation’s additional $80,500 in grant funding to local groups will include a $35,000 grant to the Madison Area Sports Commission to support the programming of Dane County youth organizations that connect children to sports activities.
Additionally, the IRONMAN Foundation, in partnership with FLO Cycling, will host a “Bike for a Kid” pop-up service project in the IRONMAN Village on September 6 and 7. IRONMAN Wisconsin athletes, along with their families and friends, are invited to visit the IRONMAN Foundation booth to assemble a bike for local kids in need. A total of 50 bikes will be built and distributed to children within the region, providing a tangible link between athletes and the host race community.
