SINGAPORE, 13 September 2023 /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon (SCSM) 2022 was awarded Best Sports Event of the Year in the Community and Mass Participation Category at the 2023 Singapore Sports Awards (SSA) held on 23 August 2023. The IRONMAN Group, organisers of the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon (SCSM), accepted the award at a star-studded presentation ceremony among Singapore’s sporting elites.

Organised by the Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC) and Sport Singapore (SportSG), the SSA is an annual award that celebrates the best of sports in Singapore across 13 categories including individual, team and event categories. The selection committee is chaired by the President of the SNOC.

This is the fifth time SCSM has won the Best Sports Event of the Year since the inception of the SSA in 2012, having claimed the accolade in 2020, 2018, 2017 and 2013.

SCSM 2022 saw close to 40,000 participants, including more than 5,000 international runners, race the streets of Singapore across three days and five event categories in one of the first mass participation events to be held following the COVID-19 pandemic. Last year’s edition also saw the return of the Half Marathon (21.1km) and Marathon (42.195km) categories, marking the return of long-distance running in a road racing format. We would like to thank our participants, partners and sponsors for their unwavering support and making last year’s race a resounding success. This monumental win should give race participants the confidence that they’ll have a great race with us this December, as part of ‘Our Race to Go Beyond.’ With the new running routes and finish planned at the iconic National Stadium, this year’s Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon promises to be an unforgettable experience for all.”

The Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon will return for its 2023 edition from Friday December 1 to Sunday December 3, 2023 with a brand new finish line at the National Stadium. It will also see the return of the National Championship and the Gold Label International Elite Race.
