Stages Cycling Re-Opens Factory Install Power Meter Production

March 2, 2021

BOULDER, CO – March 2, 2021 – Stages Cycling announced the re-opening of Factory Install Power Meter production, which allows customers to send their existing crank arm to be converted into an accurate, reliable Stages Power Meter.

The Factory Install program was previously paused due to COVID-19 related complications at the Stages Cycling production facility in Boulder, CO. After increasing production capacity and rearranging the facility to allow for greater social distancing, Stages is pleased to once again offer Factory Install for US customers.

Current Models Available

For as little as $325, Factory Install adds a Gen 3 Stages Power Meter to a rider’s current crank. A customer simply purchases Factory Install, sends in their crank, and it is returned as a power meter in about three weeks.

Factory Install is currently available for alloy left crank arms in the following models:

  • Dura Ace
  • Ultegra
  • Shimano 105
  • GRX
  • Cannondale Si

Dual-sided power, Campagnolo and SRAM AXS options are currently unavailable, however more options will be added soon.

The pandemic has led to an industry-wide bike boom over the past year causing supply issues and long wait times for many products, including Stages Power Meters. Factory Install provides another avenue to avoid long wait times by using an existing crank arm.

Tour de France Winning Power

All Factory Installs are assembled at our Boulder, Colorado facility alongside our manufacturer-supplied units. Each power meter is individually calibrated and tracked to ensure consistent, reliable power data for years to come.

With five Tour de France wins, Stages Power Meters are the most tested and the most advanced power meters in the world. After nearly a decade of relentless development, Stages Power meters have high-resolution Gen 3 electronics with enhanced signal strength. Every power meter comes certified water resistant to IPX7 standards and equipped with active temperature compensation for accuracy in even the most extreme conditions. Magnet-free cadence, ANT+ and Bluetooth transmission make Stages Power Meters universally compatible and easy to setup and compatible with virtually any computer, phone or smart trainer.
