South American riders head to San Juan for highly anticipated return of GFNY Argentina

October 30, 2019

San Juan, location of pro cycling race Vuelta a San Juan Internacional, hosts the exciting return of GFNY Argentina this Sunday November 3rd.

NEW YORK CITY, Oct 30, 2019 – GFNY returns to Argentina this Sunday November 3rd for a highly anticipated return. Host city San Juan, location to pro race Vuelta a San Juan Internacional, will present riders with a spectacular South American springtime challenge.

GFNY Argentina will take cyclists through the arid and wide lands of the Argentine northwest. Both the long and medium routes start and finish in San Juan city center. The race will take riders through rocky desert scenery and wine plantations at the foot of the Andes Mountains.

“It is very special to be back in Argentina where cycling has such a strong foothold,” said Lidia Fluhme, President and co-founder of GFNY. “The route on Sunday will have the same police support as Vuelta a San Juan for road closures, providing riders the full ‘Be a Pro For a Day’ experience on a course that is recognized on the professional world tour.”

The long competitive route covers 144km with a total ascent of 1087m. Winners will be crowned after completing two laps in the Ullum Valley, up to Punta Negra dam, crossing the spectacular Interlagos route before finishing back in the center of San Juan. The medium non-competitive route of 80km and 529m of climbing follows the same course with just one loop to Ullum Valley.

10% of finishers in each age group in the long route will qualify for the Racer Corral at the 2020 GFNY World Championship in NYC on May 17th.
