Sour Fish Events Introduces Gobbles’ Free Range 5K

August 14, 2020

The organizers of the ever-popular Gourdy’s Pumpkin Run have launched a new Thanksgiving-themed Virtual 5K

NEW YORK – Sour Fish Events, organizers of the award-winning fall race known as Gourdy’s Pumpkin Run, has announced their newest virtual event, Gobbles’ Free Range 5K. With a fun and spunky turkey, who serves as the namesake of the Virtual Run, Gobbles’ Free Range 5K is a family friendly Thanksgiving-themed 5K, that allows runners to run their race, then stuff their face. Gobbles’ continues the lasting tradition of a yearly turkey trot, but introduces some more flexibility and fun to the annual pilgrimage. Additionally, Gobbles has teamed up with No Kid Hungry, a national nonprofit that works to solve problems of hunger and poverty throughout the United States. The beneficiary of the event fits right alongside the race’s Toucan Challenge, which encourages participants to run with two canned goods while encouraging them to also donate canned goods to a local food bank. Participants are then encouraged to submit the weight of the cans donated, so Sour Fish Events can tally up the total weight of food given by its participants this season.

“We’ve been wanting to launch a virtual run for Thanksgiving for a few years now, and 2020 really presented us the opportunity to do so with Gobbles’. Furthermore, our team at Sour Fish Events is so excited to have chosen No Kid Hungry as the beneficiary of the run. As many as 1 in 4 kids in the U.S. may face hunger this year because of the coronavirus, so we are so grateful to be in a position to be able to give back and make an impact with their organization.” added Sour Fish Events Co-founder, Courtney Young.

Gobbles’ Free Range 5K is a weeklong Virtual Run that participants can do anytime, anywhere between November 22-29. Participants are  able to run or walk their 5K turkey trot on their own accord, while also receiving all the awesome race swag they’d expect from a traditional race. Registration for Gobbles’ Free Range 5K is now open for participants of all ages.
