The company was created by professional triathlete, Nicole DeBoom, who had a vision to create women’s athletic wear that merged fit, performance and femininity, a combination that did not exist in 2004. She created the first ever running skirt, tested it at the 2004 Ironman Wisconsin, and won the race. The first Skirt Sports products were sold shortly afterward at the Austin Marathon in February 2005.
