The race will host the Missouri Runner & Triathlete Club Running Championships; Rock ‘n’ Roll St. Louis will debut a brand new finish line on Market Street; Local rock band The Urge to headline post race concert
ST. LOUIS – The 6thannual Rock ‘n’ Roll St. Louis Half Marathon returns the weekend of October 15 – 16, 2016. More than 10,000 runners from 48 states and eight countries will toe the start line to take on Sunday’s half marathon or 10K and Saturday’s 5K.
The race will play host to the Missouri Runner & Triathlete Club Running Championships on Sunday, October 16. The championships are open to members of running clubs across the country and will award prizes to half marathon winners in the open (39 years and under), masters (40 – 49 years), super masters (50 – 59 years) and veterans (60+ years) categories. A cash prize will also be awarded to the running club with the most finishers in the half marathon.
“We are thrilled to host the Missouri Runner & Triathlete Club Running Championships, which will provide runners of all ages even more opportunities to compete with their peers,” said Katie Holmes, Event Manager. “With a new finish line and extra competition this race weekend is one you won’t want to miss.”
This year Rock ‘n’ Roll St. Louis will debut a new finish line venue on Market Street, giving runners a picturesque view of St. Louis’ signature Gateway Arch at the start and at the finish. The course, which starts on Market St. at 10th St. will highlight the city’s scenic neighborhoods, historic areas and parks. The 5K will start on 13th and Market St. and will finish on 15th and Market St.
The event will once again feature two days of running with the half-marathon and 10K on Sunday at 7:00 a.m. and the Rock ‘n’ Roll 5K presented by Brooks on Saturday at 8:00 a.m. Participants can take the “Remix Challenge” by running on Saturday and any distance on Sunday and earn the coveted Remix Challenge medal in addition to each race’s finisher medals.
The electrifying energy of live, local bands, motivating cheer teams and thousands of encouraging spectators will entertain runners as they journey along the course. Upon finishing, runners are invited to relax and celebrate with family and friends at the finish line festival and post-race Toyota Rock ‘n’ Roll Concert Series headlined by The Urge.
Race weekend kicks off with a free Health & Fitness Expo, where runners can find the latest in running technologies, fitness apparel, health and nutrition information and interactive displays. The Expo takes place on Friday, October 14 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, October 15 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Expo is free and open to the public.
