Active duty or veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces to compete in the race-within-a-race; Military Challenge will be at six Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series events in 2015; First challenge to take place in Washington DC presented by American Military University
San Diego, CA – March 5, 2015 – The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series today announced a new Military Challenge, a patriotic race-within-a-race taking place at six events this year. Members of the U.S. Armed Forces will have a chance to compete against other active duty or veterans, beginning with the Rock ‘n’ Roll DC Marathon & ½ Marathon on Saturday, March 14.
“The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series has a long history of celebrating the military community,” said Josh Furlow, Executive Vice President of Global Events. “We are proud to dedicate a special portion of our events to honor our nation’s servicemen and women, and look forward to growing our partnership with the American Military University as they kick off the first ever Rock ‘n’ Roll Military Challenge next month in Washington DC.”
American Military University – the top provider of education to all branches of the U.S. military, offering over 90 online degree programs to more than 100,000 adult learners worldwide – has signed on as the presenting sponsor for the Rock ‘n’ Roll DC Military Challenge. The top military competitors and teams will be recognized at the conclusion of the race in each age-group. More than 2,000 military personnel from all seven branches of the armed forces are registered to participate in the Military Challenge in the nation’s capital.

In addition to presenting the Military Challenge in DC, American Military University will also be sponsoring a “Military Mile” at Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series events in DC, Raleigh, San Diego and Virginia Beach.
