Register Now to Board 2015 USA Triathlon Race Director Symposium Cruise

Keynote speaker “Fireman Rob” Verhelst highlights three-day educational event

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Multisport race directors and event organizers are now able to register for the 2015 USA Triathlon Race Director Symposium, set to take place Jan. 16-18 aboard the Disney Dream, a Disney Cruise Line voyage departing from Port Canaveral, Florida.

A new format for the traditional race director educational networking event, the 2015 Race Director Symposium will take place on a three-day Bahamian cruise, featuring informative presentations and interactive sessions. Added to the program for 2015 is the Risk Management Mystery Theater, presented by ESIX. Attendees should be prepared to question, investigate, prosecute or defend the mystery, applying risk management tactics that may be used in the event execution process.

The keynote speaker will be Robert Verhelst, best known as Fireman Rob, a 12-year veteran firefighter as well a veteran of the United States Air Force. Verhelst completed his first triathlon in 2005, and in 2011, he completed the marathon portion of IRONMAN Wisconsin in full firefighting gear. He has now completed 14 IRONMAN events and six long-course triathlons wearing full gear, wearing an additional 50 pounds of weight in hopes of inspiring others.

The cost of the Symposium is $899 for 1 adult/double occupancy, $1,449 for single occupancy and $649 for a third or fourth adult. The cost includes a Deluxe Oceanview room, roundtrip ground transportation between Orlando International Airport or a Disney property to Port Canaveral, all meals in three signature restaurants and receptions (including soft drinks at meals and the Deck 11 beverage station), snacks throughout the ship and the 5k run on Disney’s Castaway Cay.

The cruise will depart from Port Canaveral, Fla., on Jan. 16, 2015 with ports of call in Nassau, Bahamas, and Disney’s Castaway Cay. It will mark the third time Disney will play a role in USA Triathlon’s Race Director Symposium, following presentations in 2010 and 2011 by the acclaimed Disney Institute.
