rabbit Teams Up with Big Sur Marathon on Premium Apparel

December 17, 2019

The Santa Barbara-based running apparel company focuses on local, ethical manufacturing

Carmel, CA — Established as a world-class race experience for its participants, the Big Sur Marathon is thrilled to announce they are partnering with rabbit as the race’s official premium apparel partner of their Boston 2 Big Sur and Big Sur VIP registration categories. Crafted in California, rabbit is a female-founded running apparel brand that supports runners and dreamers of all levels.

rabbit will produce the custom premium apparel items gifted to participants in the Boston 2 Big Sur Challenge and Big Sur VIP program, along with custom merchandise offerings available for sale at the Health & Fitness Expo, held the two days before the marathon.

“We are always looking to add new partners who share our passion for quality and sustainability,” said Doug Thurston, race director and executive director of the Big Sur Marathon Foundation. “Although rabbit is a relatively new player in the industry, they have a pristine reputation for crafting premium pieces with the environment in mind.”

All of rabbit’s running apparel is manufactured in California, in both Los Angeles and San Francisco. Keeping production close to home allows the company to access advanced manufacturing facilities while still having a window into all aspects of production.

“We are so honored and excited to partner with the Big Sur Marathon,” said rabbit co-founder Jill Deering. “For many years, we have admired the incredible world-class events put on by the Big Sur Marathon Foundation and we can’t wait to help make 2020 the best year yet.”

The brand was born in 2014 out of a deep love of running and a disappointment in available apparel offerings by co-founders Monica DeVreese and Jill Deering. The pair set out to breathe new life into the running apparel category at running specialty stores. With a variety of experience in the running industry as both consumers and producers, DeVreese and Deering aim to create apparel for runners, by runners as well as using the platform to support and better the sport of running, and to grow and build a deeper and more diverse running community.

The Big Sur International Marathon will celebrate its 35th presentation on April 26th, 2020, with 15,000 total entrants expected in seven different races. The full marathon and all longer Big Sur races are sold out with limited spots still available in the innovative Boston 2 Big Sur Challenge and the 5K and 3K events.
