P3R, the engine behind Pittsburgh’s greatest races – including the DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon – was named one of Pittsburgh’s 2019 Best Places to Work by the Pittsburgh Business Times.
PITTSBURGH (October 18, 2019) – P3R, the engine behind Pittsburgh’s greatest races – including the DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon – was named one of Pittsburgh’s 2019 Best Places to Work by the Pittsburgh Business Times. In addition to Pittsburgh’s annual marathon, P3R also runs a variety of other high-quality races, events, and health and fitness programs throughout the Pittsburgh region.
P3R employs 19 full-time employees, several part-time employees, and multiple interns. The office is located on the North Shore of Pittsburgh, right along the Three Rivers Heritage Trail.
“I love the fact that our mission as an organization is to promote a healthy and active lifestyle for people and children of all athletic abilities,” said Experiential & Partnerships Coordinator Carlianna Cottone. “I often head outside on my lunch break for a quick jog along the river, and it energizes me to get back into the office and do what I love.”
While many of P3R’s races attract some of the nation’s highest-profile professional athletes, it also offers activities for all ages and ability levels. The Kids of STEEL program, which was started in 2009, is a free training program that helps motivate kids and their families to get moving. The program is currently available in more than 165 schools and community centers in western Pennsylvania and concludes with the annual Chick-fil-A Pittsburgh Kids Marathon in May, which has become one of the country’s largest kids’ marathons.
“P3R’s Kids of STEEL program makes direct investments back into our local communities through event partnership, shoes for kids in need, race registrations, and more,” said Youth Programming Coordinator Katy Zeglen. “I love knowing that our work is benefitting children in need and inspiring them to create a healthy lifestyle.”
P3R is finishing up their fall season with the EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler on Saturday, Nov. 2. New this year, the course will have a Pittsburgh theme at every mile to help runners celebrate everything that makes Pittsburgh unique, including our sports championships, Mr. Rogers, pierogis, parking chairs, and more.
“Without this phenomenal team and the effort that every single member brings forward, we would not be able to bring these incredible events to our city,” said Troy Schooley, P3R CEO. “It’s really the collaboration and teamwork that really make it possible.”
The P3R team attended the Best of Pittsburgh luncheon on Thursday, Oct. 17, to represent the organization and accept the honor. The Best Places to Work in Pittsburgh awards were determined by employee surveys prior to the luncheon.
