Over 1,700 Athletes Converged in Waco, Texas for A Festival Weekend of Racing

- Trevor Foley (Gainesville, Florida) and Ai Ueda (Chiba, Japan) claim victories at the 2022 IRONMAN 70.3 Waco on Sunday, Oct. 16. - Cheyenne Barraez (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and Leslie Peterson (Pittsburgh, Pa.) claim victories at the 2022 IRONMAN Waco triathlon, a part of the VinFast U.S. Series, on Saturday, Oct. 15.

WACO, Texas (Oct.16, 2022) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The City of Waco and Central Texas played host to over 1,700 athletes from around the world for the 2022 IRONMAN Waco triathlon, a part of the VinFast IRONMAN U.S. Series, and IRONMAN 70.3 Waco triathlons as part of a festival weekend of racing on Saturday, Oct. 15 and Sunday, Oct. 16. The two events saw athletes swim, bike, and run through Waco and its surrounding countryside culminating in exciting finishes at the historic Waco Suspension Bridge. Today’s IRONMAN 70.3 Waco triathlon hosted some of triathlon’s top up and coming professionals with Gainesville, Florida’s Trevor Foley earning his first IRONMAN 70.3 victory and taking the overall win in the men’s professional race with a time of 3:45:58. In the women’s professional race, Olympian Ai Ueda of Chiba, Japan sprinted away from the field for a dominate victory with a time of 4:19:16. The 2022 IRONMAN 70.3 Waco also featured live event coverage on Outside TV, and as part of 11 IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon events from across the globe to broadcast exclusively on the platform.

On Sunday, the 2022 IRONMAN 70.3 Waco triathlon saw athletes take on a 70.3-mile journey through the waters of the Brazos River, traversed around Waco Lake, and through the Waco wetlands, before capping off the race in downtown Waco and finishing at the oldest suspension bridge in the Southwest. The 2022 IRONMAN 70.3 Waco triathlon offered 30 qualifying slots for the 2023 VinFast IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship taking place in Lahti, Finland on August 26 & 27, 2023.

On Saturday, the 2022 IRONMAN Waco triathlon, a part of the VinFast IRONMAN U.S. Series, saw Cheyenne Barraez (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and Leslie Peterson (Pittsburgh, Pa.) claim victories. Athletes took on a 140.6-mile journey through Waco and its surrounding areas. The 2.4-mile swim also took place in the waters of the Brazos River. Once out of the water, athletes set out on the 112-mile bike course, that led the athletes through the rolling rural roads of Central Texas. Athletes then took on the 26.2-mile run through downtown Waco, crossing over the Bravos River many times before finishing at the historic Waco Suspension Bridge. The 2022 IRONMAN Waco triathlon, a part of the VinFast IRONMAN U.S. Series, offered 55 qualifying slots for the 2023 VinFast IRONMAN World Championship taking place in Kailua-Kona Hawai`i on Oct. 12 & 14, 2023.
