Oakland Track Club’s Summer Classic Returns to Movemint

The signature East Bay track event returns with $150 cash prizes, a free Kids' 400m and a fundraiser for Skyline High School's Cross Country and Track and Field programs

OAKLAND, Calif. (July 2, 2026) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ — Track season is heating up in the East Bay. Oakland Track Club is bringing back its Summer Classic on July 18th at Skyline High School, inviting runners of every level to race, raise money for local student athletes and test their summer fitness before fall racing kicks in.

The Summer Classic is OTC’s signature annual event, drawing hundreds of runners to Skyline High School’s track for a day built around community and competition in equal measure. This year’s lineup includes a Women’s, Men’s and Non-Binary 5000m, a four-person Distance Medley Relay and a free Kids’ 400m for the next generation of racers.

Prize money is on the line in the 5000m, with $150 going to first place, $100 to second and $75 to third across each division. The DMR follows the classic 1200m, 400m, 800m, 1600m order, with team captains handling registration for their full squad.

Every dollar raised through the event supports Skyline High School’s Cross Country and Track and Field programs, helping fund new equipment and resources for their student athletes. Runners can also expect a GU Energy station on-site for fueling and hydration tips.
