December 10, 2020

New Product Offering Features Athlos Technical Apparel and Jerseys

BALTIMORE, Maryland – The Maryland Cycling Classic supported by UnitedHealthcare, America’s biggest and highest-ranked one-day professional men’s bike race, is launching a new apparel line with technical apparel and jerseys from Athlos and a casual apparel line from DMC Sport. The inaugural event, which takes place September 5, 2021, will include several events over the course of Labor Day Weekend.

Headquartered in host-city Baltimore, Athlos Performance Apparel is the Maryland Cycling Classic technical apparel partner and licensee. The 2021 collection features new limited-edition technical products including a race vest and jacket as well as a commemorative jersey showcasing Maryland landmarks and Baltimore-centric iconography that was revealed earlier in 2020.

“As a Maryland-based business, we are thrilled to support the Maryland Cycling Classic,” said Athlos Chief Sales and Marketing Officer David Manchester. “In addition to the commemorative jersey, we have expanded the product offering to include technical apparel and additional jerseys. It’s special for Athlos to be a part of this event, knowing it’s already one of North America’s biggest races in its inaugural year.

The technical apparel line from Athlos is now available for preorder and can be viewed and purchased at https://www.athlosports.com/collections/maryland-cycling-classic.

The Maryland Cycling Classic’s casual apparel line is presented by DMC Sport and features an assortment of shirts and hoodies with various designs.

“DMC Sport is a global company involved in many sports,” said DMC Sport President Dino Dipierdeminco. “We’re excited to immerse ourselves in the exciting sport of cycling and partner with a first-class organization on a world-class event. We’re looking forward to building a strong brand with high-quality casual apparel and promotional products for the Maryland Cycling Classic.”

The Maryland Cycling Classic will be part of the prestigious UCI Pro Series and is one of the top-ranked events in North and South America. UnitedHealthcare was previously announced as presenting sponsor.

“We’re excited to finally introduce our merchandise lines for the inaugural Maryland Cycling Classic,” said Terry Hasseltine, President of the Sport and Entertainment Corporation of Maryland. “Both Athlos and DMC Sport have been great partners in developing a line of merchandise that will enhance our brand and the positioning of the state of Maryland and Baltimore in the process.”

Hasseltine added that they’ve been working with events partners KOM Sports on the merchandise program as well as sponsorship and marketing build-outs, and Medalist Sports on race specifics. A weekend of events is planned for the Maryland Cycling Classic including a Health and Wellness Festival, a Public Charity Ride, Community Outreach on Bike Education and Participation, and a new hospitality and experiential platform, with specifics to be announced on each program in 2021.
