ABOUT KIM CONLEY

Kim developed her passion for running under the influence of great coaches at the youth and high school levels in Santa Rosa, CA. After competing in cross country and track while earning a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Biology from the University of California, Davis, Kim’s coaching career began in 2009 when she became an assistant coach in the UC Davis Cross Country and Track & Field program. She simultaneously continued to pursue her own running goals, and in 2012 she shocked the Track and Field world with a dramatic and unexpected third place finish in the Olympic Trials women’s 5000m, which earned her a berth to the London Olympics.

After London, Kim’s professional running career took off, and she stepped back from collegiate coaching to focus on training and racing. In the following years she won two national titles, returned to the Olympic stage in Rio, and won the bronze medal at the 2019 Pan American Games. Kim continues to compete on the roads today and has qualified for the 2024 Olympic Trials Marathon.

In 2021 Kim began coaching adult runners with McKirdy Trained. She has helped runners find the next level in their running ability across distances from the mile to the marathon. She loves sharing her passion for the sport with athletes all over the country while helping them discover the ways in which running will enhance their lives.
