LONG BEACH, Calif. — Motiv Sports, a leader in active lifestyle and entertainment events, and JetBlue Airways today announced they will be continuing their partnership for another two years, naming JetBlue Airways the title sponsor of the Long Beach Marathon through 2019. This year’s events will take place Friday, October 5 through Sunday, October 7.
JetBlue has been a partner of the Long beach Marathon since 2005 and signed on as title sponsor in 2015. JetBlue and the Long Beach Marathon have built upon their relationship over the years with the mission of creating a first-class event that will inspire the 20,000 participants to fly to the finish line and have fun along the way. JetBlue Long Beach and other Los Angeles-area JetBlue crewmembers will be taking part in this year’s event both as participants and volunteers.
“With one of the most scenic courses in the country along our beautiful Pacific beaches and through our vibrant downtown, the JetBlue Long Beach Marathon showcases some of the very best sights in our community,” said Lou Anthony, JetBlue’s general manager at Long Beach Airport. “On behalf of the more than 700 local Long Beach JetBlue crewmembers, we welcome participants to our hometown.”
In total, the event will attract 50,000 people race weekend. The event begins Friday, October 5th with the opening of the Health and Fitness Expo. The Aquarium of The Pacific 5K and Kid’s Run will take place Saturday, and the JetBlue Marathon and Half Marathon, Bike Tour and Bike/Half Marathon Combo are set for Sunday.
“We have greatly valued our long-term relationship with JetBlue,” said Bob Seagren, Motiv Sports. “Having JetBlue extend their title sponsorship for another two years give our marathon recognition far beyond SoCal.”
The Long Beach Marathon is known as Southern California’s fall health & fitness event and will be celebrating its 34th year in 2018. Starting and finishing in downtown Long Beach, runners will pass the Queen Mary, Rainbow Harbor, Marine Stadium, Blair Field and Long Beach State before being greeted by cheering friends, family and spectators at the Finish Line Festival.
