IRONMAN Foundation to Support Multiple Initiatives in Louisville, Kentucky as Part of 2019 IRONMAN Louisville Presented by Norton Sports Health

More than $65,000 in charitable giveback to be distributed in the greater Louisville region in 2019

TAMPA, Fla. (October 8, 2019) – The IRONMAN Foundation will distribute more than $65,000 in charitable giveback to non-profit initiatives and groups in the greater Louisville, Kentucky community in conjunction with the 2019 IRONMAN® Louisville presented by Norton Sports Health triathlon taking place on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2019.

The Louisville Sports Commission will be awarded a $10,000 Community Grant which will be used to help the Commission promote active lifestyles and enhance economic vitality by attracting, creating, and hosting quality sporting events in the Louisville area.

“The IRONMAN Louisville event is the preeminent brand name in endurance competition, and each year we look forward to creating great experiences for these visitors as they swim, bike and run through the neighborhoods and towns that make this race special,” said Louisville Sports Commission President & CEO Karl F. Schmitt, Jr. “Every year, our community comes together to embrace and support this event, and we appreciate the IRONMAN Foundation giving back in recognition of our efforts.”

Additionally, the Oldham County Fiscal Court will receive a $15,000 Community Grant to promote and support events hosted by the local Parks and Recreation Department. These funds will help provide Oldham County Fiscal Court with a new digital message center for downtown LaGrange, Ky. to help promote participation in events, such as IRONMAN Louisville, and provide healthy lifestyle information.

“The IRONMAN Foundation’s mantra is ‘Service Through Sport, Commitment to Community,’ which is exemplified through the work of the Louisville Sports Commission and Oldham Country Fiscal Court,” stated Kaitlin Brunner, Community Relations Manager for the IRONMAN Foundation. “We are very grateful for the community’s hospitality, for welcoming us for 13 years, and for allowing us to give back over $780,000 to community organizations throughout the region.”

The IRONMAN Foundation provides community and volunteerism grant opportunities to non-profit organizations where IRONMAN events are held.  The IRONMAN Foundation’s total historical giveback to the Louisville region will reach $781,500 this year.  Additionally, it will distribute more than $1.8 million in grant funding to support the needs of IRONMAN race communities across North America.
