WANTAGH, N.Y. (April. 11, 2023) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – IRONMAN announced today that general registration for the inaugural 2023 IRONMAN® 70.3® New York – Jones Beach triathlon has sold out. With the sellout, the event will play host to the largest inaugural IRONMAN 70.3 event in the history of the IRONMAN 70.3 brand with approximately 3,800 registered athletes. The announcement tops a milestone last set at the debut of the IRONMAN 70.3 Indian Wells-La Quinta triathlon in 2018 (and previously by 2016 IRONMAN Coeur d’Alene, and 2012 IRONMAN 70.3 South Africa). The IRONMAN 70.3 New York – Jones Beach triathlon is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023.

“When we first identified Jones Beach as a potential host location for an IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon, we knew that this destination would be very desirable and athletes have shown that,” said Dave Christen, Sr. Regional Director for The IRONMAN Group. “We are proud to host events in highly desirable locations across the Series. We can’t wait for our athletes to come and experience some of the most beautiful beaches, stunning scenery, beautiful weather, and the close proximity to New York City.”

The announcement marks the fifth and largest IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon to sell out in North America for 2023.
