IRC Tire Introduces The Boken DoubleCross Tire

December 16, 2020

Davis, CA— IRC Tire introduces the all-new Boken DoubleCross tire line up.  As its name implies, the Boken DoubleCross is a dual-sport tire. Depending on the size, it’s an aggressive all-conditions gravel tire or a CX race tire.

DoubleCross tires offer a more aggressive tread than the original IRC Boken tire, giving the rider superior performance on loose, rough, or loamy terrain. Available in 33mm, 38mm, and 42mm, IRC engineers designed them with optimized tread patterns for each size. The 38mm and 42mm have a fast-rolling center tread for gravel and adventure riding paired with burly side knobs that hook up when the gnar gets gnarly. The 33mm gives you the traction you need in high-torque CX racing and tight cornering. Reinforced sidewalls provide both flat protection and stiffness to keep the tire from “squirming” when run at low pressure.

“The DoubleCross is a two-faced tire. It rolls fast enough to drive the front on the road sectors but has incredible traction when you need it. Since most gravel rides (and races) are a mix of multiple surfaces, we think we have created the best “core” gravel tire on the market,” said Bruno Suttles, Sales and Marketing Manager for IRC Tire USA. “IRC debuted the new Boken DoubleCross at Belgian Waffle Ride Cedar City, Utah 2020, winning both the king and queen of dirt titles.”

“They rip the hardpack like a semi-slick but link up in chunky stuff like a MTB tire. simply put, the best shoes for my bike yet.” — Peter Stetina, Professional Cyclist and winner of King of Dirt, BWR Cedar City

“These are the best of both worlds for the road and the dirt.” — Kathy Pruitt, Professional Cyclist and winner of Queen of Dirt, BWR Cedar City

The Boken DoubleCross 700X42 was designed for the rigors of events like DK200 and has the volume and bite to handle any chunky terrain while rolling extremely fast on hardpack and tarmac. The center tread has been slightly opened to provide more grip and bite than its 38mm little brother.

The Boken DoubleCross 700X38 is sure to be an all-around favorite for fast all-surface gravel. It is as light as our Boken 700×36, but with more bite and volume. The center tread has been subtly tuned to eke out a little bit more speed than its 42mm brother.

The Boken DoubleCross 700X33 has an abundance of evenly spaced small blocks that give maximum traction under high-torque riding. This tire enjoys soft loamy and sandy trails, but it is most at home on the cyclocross course. The tread on the 33mm DoubleCross has been optimized for traction.

Boken DoubleCross tires will be available December 2020.
MSRP $59.99
