Inaugural GFNY Deutschland on August 28, 2016

September 25, 2015

The inaugural GFNY Deutschland is set to take place in the picturesque town of Hamelin in Northern Germany on August 28, 2016. The two course options offer exceptional riding and racing for anyone. Smooth roads, lots of hills and beer at the finish will ensure that riders from across the world get a proper German cycling experience.

“Being of German origin, I’m excited to now have GFNY Deutschland as part of our World series,” says GFNY CEO Uli Fluhme. “I met organizer Paul Fasse at GFNY Puerto Rico. He brings the enthusiasm and professionalism to GFNY that we seek. I’m very much looking forward to be able to showcase my home country to riders from around the globe.”

GFNY Deutschland offers two distance options: a 102-mi / 165km long route with 7,263ft / 2,214m of climbing and a medium route of 60-mi / 100km with 3,563ft / 1,086m of climbing. While only few are in the hunt for the overall win, there will be many aiming to finish among the top 10% of finishers in their category to qualify for a racer corral spot at the GFNY Championship in NYC on May 21, 2017.

“I experienced Campagnolo Gran Fondo New York and GFNY Puerto Rico first hand,” adds GFNY Deutschland founder Paul Fasse. “I lived in Italy for many years so granfondo is a concept that I am very familiar with. Riders can expect a typical GFNY event: police moderated traffic, timing start to finish and results based on time. All that combined with true GFNY quality will make it a memorable experience for athletes from around the world.”

Registration for the race opened today at Early bird registration at a discounted entry fee is available for one week.
