In Motion Events shares the passing of Founder Lynn Flanagan

San Diego businesswoman and proponent of running, walking remembered by family, friends, and local community

SAN DIEGO, Calif. /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – In Motion Events founder Lynn Flanagan passed away in her home surrounded by her family on Oct. 6 at the age of 82. The running and walking event industry trailblazer launched her woman-owned and family-operated business in 1981, creating and supporting some of the most beloved fitness events in Southern California before retiring in 2009. A tribute to Flanagan is planned to take place at the annual Carlsbad Marathon on Jan. 14, 2024.

“As an avid runner, a friend asked my mom to help produce a run for their organization and the rest is history,” said Christine Adams, Flanagan’s daughter and CEO and co-owner of In Motion Events. “My mother’s passion for running and compassion for people was the perfect combination to make In Motion a successful company that lives on today. We miss her dearly, but know that her legacy lives on in us and in every participant who crosses our finish lines.”

Flanagan was born on Nov. 10, 1940, in Michigan to parents Jack and Alice Flanagan. She grew up alongside her siblings John, Mark, Chris and Mary. She was the mother of four children: Katie Johnson, Pat Flanagan, Ellen Larson, and Christine Adams. Larson and Adams continued the In Motion Events legacy and took on day-to-day operations after Flanagan’s retirement. In her retirement, Lynn found a passion for painting and for writing, penning a memoir titled, “A Life in Motion.” Lynn enjoyed time with her family and friends, reading, shopping, running, and walking.
