iFit Connected Fitness Lets Runners Race the Boston Marathon via Streaming Workout on NordicTrack and ProForm treadmills

(Logan, UT) – April 17, 2020—iFit, the leading interactive, connected fitness technology, is now streaming an exclusive Boston Marathon workout series, scheduled for April 20 and now postponed to September 14 due to coronavirus. iFit filmed the marathon live in 2019 and has released a five-part series, so iFit subscribers can virtually run the Boston Marathon from the comfort of their own homes. iFit will make the Boston Marathon workouts available at 12.01 am on Monday, April 20, 2020.

The race is led by iFit Trainer Ashley Paulson, a professional ultrarunner, triathlete, Olympic trial marathon qualifier and marathon runner with a personal best of 2:36:01. A favorite among iFit members, her extensive running knowledge and high-energy personality make her the perfect trainer for the Boston Marathon series.

Working in partnership with the Boston Athletic Association, the official organizers of the race, iFit embedded a three-person crew live during the 2019 marathon. Running along with Paulson were an iFit cameraman/audio technician and an iFit trainer, who ensured Paulsen’s pace, running form and coaching tips were consistent from mile to mile. Throughout the race, Paulson turns to the iFit camera behind her, providing coaching tips as she runs through actual marathon crowds in real time.

For those running on iFit-enabled treadmills, such as NordicTrack or Proform, iFit provides a true “race day” experience because iFit automatically adjusts incline and speed throughout the entire course, including the famed Heartbreak Hill at mile 18, for example. iFit tech on the treadmill matches Paulson’s actual race pace of 9:31 to 9:50 per mile, which translates to 6.1 mph – 6.3 mph on the treadmill. Of course, the pace and speed can be manually adjusted to fit the fitness level of the individual iFit user.

Those running on treadmills without iFit technology can stream the Boston Marathon race workouts and make speed and incline adjustments manually. Simply download the app in the Apple Store or Google Play, sign up for the 30-day free trial, prop the smartphone on the equipment and follow along. Consumers can also cast from their smartphone via Apple TV or Google Chromecast for a big screen TV experience.
