iFIT Announces “Summit Push” 12-Hour Endurance Hiking Event to Celebrate National Trails Day at Snowbasin Resort in Utah

April 6, 2022

“How Much Can You Achieve Between Sunrise and Sunset?”

(LOGAN, Utah, April 6, 2022) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – iFIT, a global leader in connected fitness software, content, and equipment, today announced the iFIT Summit Push, a community-building endurance hiking experience for athletes of all levels to celebrate National Trails Day on Saturday, June 4.

The iFIT Summit Push is a new category of endurance event that challenges participants to hike uphill on ski mountains as many times as possible over a 12-hour period, returning to the base by gondola after each ascent. The inaugural event will take place at Snowbasin Resort. Known for its steep slopes, Snowbasin was the site of the downhill, Super-G, slalom and giant slalom alpine skiing events during the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics.

The iFIT Summit Push course at Snowbasin gains 2,310 feet of elevation in just 2.3 miles from the base of the Needles Express gondola, and will offer two mid-mountain aid stations with water and first aid. Participants will trek uphill on the resort’s wide dirt service road and bathrooms, cool water and shady seating will be available at the top of every ascent inside the gondola headhouse. The event kicks off at 5 am Mountain Time and concludes at 5 pm with a post-event party.

In the lead-up to the event, participants will receive an eight-week training plan created by iFIT Trainer and Summit Push Head Coach Casey Gilbert to help prepare for on their own NordicTrack, ProForm or Freemotion treadmills with iFIT connected fitness. On event day, Gilbert and iFIT Trainer Heather Jenson will also lead guided groups up the mountain from base to summit, allowing participants to interact with two of the most popular trainers from iFIT’s streaming workouts in a real-world setting.

“The iFIT Summit Push is an opportunity for our 7.2 million members and the wider community to step out from behind their screens and put their training to the test, alongside iFIT Trainers and each other,” said Mark Watterson, iFIT’s President and Chief Experience Officer. “Our goal is to help people forge a new kind of mental toughness that may change their perspective and unlock a better version of themselves. We want people to push themselves beyond their comfort zone and be amazed by what they’re capable of.”

Participants of the iFIT Summit Push who complete at least one full ascent will receive a finisher’s hat reflecting the total number of times they reached the summit during the event.

“We believe that people underestimate what they can accomplish in just one day,” said Marc Hodulich, CEO and co-founder of 29029, the fitness experience and event arm of iFIT. “Hiking for 12 hours washes away the noise and can change your perception of just how much you can achieve between sunrise and sunset. iFIT has always been about expanding people’s horizons, and the iFIT Summit Push is just another way that we are able to do that.”

The iFIT Summit Push is the company’s latest in-person global workout offering – taking its beloved travel series found on the iFIT platform and creating high touchpoint experiences – in addition to the recent launches of iFIT Adventures and iFIT Retreats.

Registration for the iFIT Summit Push is available for $299 at summitpush.ifit.com. Participants must be age 14 and older.
