GFNY supports local non-profits through MORE Than Sport fundraising platform

December 29, 2016

NEW YORK CITY, December 29, 2016 – GFNY has launched its 2017 fundraising program, which will be operated through the MORE Than Sport™ fundraising platform. The GFNY 2017 fundraising program for the May 21, 2017 event focuses on giving back to the local charities and non-profit groups.

GFNY 2017 participants interested in “upgrading” their start position in the peloton have the option to fundraise or donate $1,000-$5,000 to earn the benefit of starting in the 3rd, 2nd or 1st corrals or even the 1st line. All funds raised for the GFNY Community Fund via MORE Than Sport in the build-up to the 2017 Campagnolo GFNY World Championship will be going towards making a difference in the communities that neighbor the GFNY course.

The GFNY Community Fund will provide volunteer grant opportunities to non-profit organizations. To date, over a dozen organizations have committed to work with GFNY’s 2017 edition. Organizations such as Safely at Home, Stony Point Police Athletic League, FBI Explorers, DEA Explorers, Operation Smile and over a dozen EMS corps.

“At GFNY, we look forward to further deepening our connections with the local community,” says Lidia Fluhme, President of GFNY. “The race has been held six annual editions and each year there are spectators lining the 100 miles of road in support of the athletes. But for GFNY 2017, we expect a record number of locals to also become an integral part of the race at the GFNY aid stations and serving as course marshals along the 100-mile route.”
