GFNY Partners with MORE Than Sport™ Fundraising Platform to Support Local Non-Profits for 2016 Edition

December 17, 2015

NEW YORK CITY, December 16, 2015 – Campagnolo Gran Fondo New York has launched its new 2016 fundraising program, which will be operated through MORE Than Sport™ fundraising platform. The GFNY 2016 fundraising program is completely revamped for the May 15, 2016 event and is focusing on collaboration with local charities and non-profit groups.

Campagnolo GFNY 2016 participants interested in “upgrading” their start position in the peloton have the option to fundraise or donate $1000-$5000 to earn the benefit of starting in the 3rd, 2nd or 1st corrals or even the 1st line. All funds raised for the GFNY Community Fund via MORE Than Sport in the build-up to the 2016 Campagnolo GFNY Championship will be going towards making a difference in the communities that neighbor the Campagnolo GFNY course.

The GFNY Community Fund will provide volunteer grant opportunities to non-profit organizations. To date, over a dozen organizations have committed to work with GFNY 2016. Organizations such as Health Lifeline, Safely@Home, Keep Rockland Beautiful, Piermont PAL, Operation Smile and many others will receive volunteer grants.

“GFNY is very excited to deepen its connections with the local community,” says Lidia Fluhme, President of GFNY. “The race has been held for the past five years and each year there are spectators lining the 100 miles of road in support of the athletes. But for GFNY 2016, we expect a record number of locals to be also an integral part of the race at the GFNY aid stations and serving as course marshals along the 100-mile route.”

Chris Lieto, Founder of MORE Than Sport, adds: “We are excited to partner with Gran Fondo New York at the upcoming 2016 GFNY Championship in New York City. As one of cycling’s premier global race series, GFNY brings a quality experience, incredible presence and ultimately a fantastic platform with which to inspire athletes and changemakers around around the world to share our mission of transforming and restoring communities through the power of sport.”
