GFNY heads to Asia and Europe for a Super Sunday Double Championship

GFNY Global Cycling marathon series goes to Indonesia and Germany this Sunday, September 2nd

(NEW YORK CITY, August 29, 2018) – GFNY Indonesia and GFNY Deutschland will each host riders from around the world in a diverse challenge of elements, terrain and cultural experiences.

GFNY Indonesia, Samosir Asian Championship
Samosir Island in Lake Toba is located in the north island of Sumatra in Indonesia and will host 600 riders on Sunday over some of the most breathtaking and tropical landscape in the world. The course is not without it’s challenges; the heat and humidity will play a factor over the 152km long distance with 2066 meters of climbing. The medium route will cover 108km with 1036 meters of climbing.

GFNY Indonesia’s 152km long course is a qualifier for the racer corral at the 2019 Campagnolo GFNY World Championship in NYC. As the Asian Championship, the top 20% (vs the usual 10% at other GFNYs) will qualify for the championship racer corral.

“This is such an exciting location for GFNY Indonesia. The drama of the scenery around the volcano and views along the course are going to provide riders with a great challenge and amazing day of cycling on Sunday, said GFNY CEO, Uli Fluhme.

GFNY Deutschland European Championship
The German town of Hameln will host 700 riders from 20 countries for the third edition of GFNY Deutschland. The long route covers 164km with 2135 meters of climbing and will serve as a qualifying race for the racer corral at the 2019 Campagnolo GFNY World Championship in NYC. The medium route covers 95km and 1153 of climbing.

For the third year in a row, GFNY returns to the city of Hameln that has embraced the ‘Be A Pro For A Day’ spirit with completely closed-to-traffic roads, allowing everyone the same experience from the front to the back of the peloton.

No GFNY Deutschland would be complete without a post race celebration and the German hospitality continues at the finish line finish line village with traditional German fare of sausages and beer.

“Germany offers a very special GFNY experience that extends beyond the race itself into the support from the local villages and people the race rides through and the amazing German landscapes that riders will see throughout the day,” said Lidia Fluhme, President and co-founder of GFNY.
