Fargo Marathon sold to Rugged Races with hopes of boosting participation

December 3, 2019

According to Fargo Marathon race founder Mark Knutson, Rugged Races is expected to help push the numbers up with its national arsenal of marketing power, including a database of 500,000 runners. The Fargo Marathon began in 2005 with 2,641 participants. Growth came quickly with almost 20,000 in all events by 2010, but dropped to 17,800 last May. In August of this year, Rugged Races acquired RAM Racing and its entire portfolio of events, including the Allstate Hot Chocolate 15K/5K series.
