DelMoSports ends its season at Crest Best Run Fest with 530 Live Runners

October 16, 2020

Socially distanced running festival weekend in Wildwood Crest, NJ a big success

Cape May, NJ (October 15, 2020) – Under the watchful guidance of local and state Covid-19 protocols, DelMoSports concluded its annual season with a real, live event. The 3rd Annual Crest Best Run Fest took place on October 10-11 in Wildwood Crest, NJ with over 250 runners each day: a Sunset 5K on Saturday evening, and a 10 Miler on Sunday. With extensive precautions put in place for social distancing at the start line, and testing and medical support from DelMoSports’ presenting sponsor Inspira Health, the event went off without a hitch

“When the State of New Jersey set in place a 500-person cap for outdoor events, we felt we had to do something for our athletes,” said DelMoSports CEO Stephen Del Monte. “Working closely with the Borough of Wildwood Crest, we took all the right steps to ensure a safe environment for everyone while not compromising on a great race day experience. For example, one of the items we instituted to mitigate unnecessary contact were cup-less aid stations. In partnership with HydraPak, each athlete received in their swag bag the HydraPak SpeedCup, a collapsible 7-ounce reusable cup.”

“So far, feedback has been very positive,” Del Monte commented. “People just want an opportunity to get out and be active like they are used to doing. More importantly, though, we wanted to show both athletes and other race organizers that there is a path forward in this challenging environment. It may be slow – but slow and steady will win this race.”
