The IRONMAN Pro Series™ is a year-long performance-based world series that will see professional triathletes earn points at 20 select races at 19 locations globally to vie for the title of IRONMAN Pro Series Champion and a share of the lucrative USD $1.7 million year-end bonus prize pool, which is in addition to each individual event’s prize money equating to over USD $2.5 million.
Points are calculated based on an athlete’s finish time in relation to the event winner, calculated after the completion of each designated series race. Winners at IRONMAN events will earn 5,000 points while winners of IRONMAN 70.3 events will earn 2,500 points. In each scenario, points continue to decrease as the race time increases, until the points reach zero.
With five races already taken place, and the IRONMAN European Championship Hamburg triathlon coming up this weekend, excitement is mounting as professional triathletes battle it out to accrue early season points and prize money.
In the women’s standings, thanks to four top ten finishes so far, Danielle Lewis (USA) is currently leading the charge with 8,915 points. Following an incredibly consistent start to the year with two first place finishes and one second, Emma Pallant-Browne (GBR) is behind her with 6,846 points.
This weekend’s IRONMAN European Championship Hamburg also doubles as the IRONMAN European Championship for professional women. With 5,000 points on offer, and five women in the top 20 of the IRONMAN Pro Series standings due to race, viewers can expect some epic battles on course as the women race to improve upon their current positionings.
Currently sitting atop of the men’s IRONMAN Pro Series standings is USA’s Matt Hanson with 8,384 points, closely followed by two-time IRONMAN World Champion, Patrick Lange (DEU) with 8,236 points.
With 15 more races to watch, the DAZN broadcast will bring viewers as close as possible to the action, so fans and fellow athletes can watch newcomers, rising stars and seasoned pros battle it out to become the first ever IRONMAN Pro Series champion.
The live broadcasts will be hosted by a team of the sport’s greats, including IRONMAN World Champions and Hall of Famers Greg Welch and Michellie Jones, as well as 3X IRONMAN World Champion Mirinda Carfrae, IRONMAN champions Dede Griesbauer and Michael Lovato and professional IRONMAN athlete Laura Siddall. Matt Lieto will also be providing analysis from both on the course and in the studio throughout the 2024 season. Various guest commentators also will bring additional perspectives and insights to the live coverage.
