Brooklyn Marathon and Half Marathon Celebrates 9th Year Running on October 19

NYCRUNS Welcomes 8000 Runners to the Start Line on Saturday

BROOKLYN, NY – October 14, 2019 – NYCRUNS celebrates its ninth annual running of the  Brooklyn Marathon & Half Marathon on Saturday, October 19. Festivities for the event kickoff on Thursday, October 17 with the opening of the City Point Expo.

The Brooklyn Marathon & Half Marathon is a USATF Certified course and electronically timed using MYLAPS Bibtag system. The course features timing split points, water, gatorade, restrooms approximately every 1.5 miles, and medical support throughout the course. The marathon is an official Boston Qualifier. The Prospect Park Track Club will be providing pace teams for both the marathon and half marathon. Runners and spectators are encouraged to download the free NYCRUNS Brooklyn Marathon & Half Marathon app from the Apple App Store or Google Play for live athlete tracking, transportation info, course maps, weather, alerts, and results. Runners also have the option to share their live tracking info to their social media feeds.

Runners can pick up their race bibs on Thursday, October 17 from 3pm – 8pm or Friday, October 18 from 10am – 6pm at the City Point Expo located at BKLYN STUDIOS in the heart of downtown Brooklyn. Participants are encouraged to enjoy a beer at the Sixpoint Beer Garden.

“This year we registered 8000 athletes and expect 6500 to officially cross the finish line,” said NYCRUNS founder Steve Lastoe. “That officially marks a 40% year to year increase in registration.”

NYCRUNS, recently celebrated its 10th anniversary of organizing races within the greater New York City area. On October 2nd, they announced an official beverage partnership with Sixpoint Brewery in a strategic effort to hyper-localize their race experiences. Runners can find a list of events here.
