Hall of Fame swim coach for Michael Phelps will speak at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Hall of Fame swim coach Bob Bowman will present the keynote speech for the 2014 USA Triathlon Art & Science of Triathlon International Coaching Symposium at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nev. The theme for this year’s Symposium is “Innovate, Communicate and Achieve,” and this unique educational opportunity for triathlon coaches features a dynamic lineup of U.S. and international multisport experts.
Bowman is slated to speak at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12. Individual tickets for the keynote speech will be available for $55, and symposium attendees will attend as part of the event.
Bowman, widely known for his role as the primary coach for 22-time U.S. Olympic medalist Michael Phelps, is the CEO & Head Coach for the highly regarded North Baltimore Aquatic Club. Over the course of his distinguished career, Bowman has coached his athletes to 29 individual and relay Olympic medals, including 12 individual gold medals. He is a five-time American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA) Coach of the Year, three-time Golden Goggle recipient for Coach of the Year honors (2006-08), two-time Big Ten Conference Coach of the Year (2007-08), two-time USA Swimming Coach of the Year (2001 & 2003) and USA Swimming’s Developmental Coach of the Year (2002). He was also inducted into the ASCA Hall of Fame in 2010.
Additionally, Bowman is a highly sought-after inspirational and motivational speaker covering topics that include goal-setting, mental toughness and achieving excellence.
The Art & Science of Triathlon International Coaching Symposium kicks off Thursday, Sept. 11 at 4 p.m. and concludes at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13. The cost of the Symposium is $595 for USA Triathlon Certified Coaches, $625 for USA Triathlon members and $655 for the general public. The cost includes two lunches and snacks on Friday, Sept. 12 and Saturday, Sept. 13, as well as a free pass to Interbike on Thursday, Sept. 11. All meals will be served at Mandalay Bay.
USA Triathlon Certified Coaches will earn 15 CEUs for attending the entire conference.

In addition Art & Science of Triathlon International Coaching Symposium, USA Triathlon will also be hosting the finale of the 2014 Super Sprint Series on Thursday, Sept. 11. An elite invitation-only field will compete in the event, which has also been designated the USA Triathlon Elite Sprint National Championships.
Contested in a super-sprint format under the lights outside the Las Vegas Convention Center, elite athletes will complete two continuous, non-stop circuits of the same course, each comprised of a 300-meter pool swim, 8k bike and 2.5k run to claim their share of a $70,000 prize purse. The B finals will begin at 6 p.m. and the A finals will begin at 8 p.m. The event is free and open to symposium attendees and the general public, and information on transportation to the event from Mandalay Bay will be available soon.
