This year’s list will feature a new award dedicated to runner safety and custom awards for all winners
The BibRave 100 is the definitive list of the best races in America, recognizing the best Marathons, Half Marathons, and Races 10 Miles or Less. The list also recognizes the Best Themed Races, Best Medals and/or Swag, Best Race Weekend Experiences, and the Green Lion Award for races that have integrated sustainable practices into their race operations to reduce their carbon footprint.
New for 2019, BibRave has also introduced the Redefine Possible Award sponsored by AfterShokz, the award-winning company known for pioneering open-ear, bone conduction headphone technology. The Redefine Possible Award will go to an innovative leader in race operations and runner safety, and will be presented at The BibRave 100 luncheon, which takes place at The Running Event on Wednesday, December 4.
“AfterShokz is obsessed with safety and we’ve worked hard to reshape how runners balance safety with listening to music or podcasts,” said Kim Fasetta, Chief Marketing Officer of AfterShokz. “Race organizers face similar challenges but on a larger scale, requiring tons of planning, preparation, and flexibility to make an event safe. The Redefine Possible Award is the perfect way to recognize such important and challenging work within the running industry.”
All races who make The BibRave 100, as well as the Redefine Possible Award recipient, will receive painstakingly-crafted, custom awards created by Ashworth Awards, a new sponsor for 2019. All ceremony attendees will receive enamel pins, while The BibRave 100 winners will receive custom plaques featuring the race name and logo. All races on the list will also receive their own “Benjamin,” The BibRave 100’s plush lion mascot, proudly sporting an award medallion courtesy of Ashworth Awards.
“Races on The BibRave 100 inspire the entire running industry to be the best we can for all participants,” said Dan Ashworth, President and CEO of Ashworth Awards. “Ashworth Awards works with hundreds of races to recognize and reward the accomplishments those events enable every year, and we’re honored to celebrate the best of the best.”
BibRave is again partnering with The Running Event, North America’s largest specialty running conference and trade show, inviting all races who make The BibRave 100, and the individual winner of the Redefine Possible Award, to attend the conference and be recognized at an awards luncheon on Wednesday, December 4.
“We are so proud of The BibRave 100 and how it’s become the go-to list of races for runners to add to their calendars,” said Tim Murphy, Co-Founder of BibRave. “We’re thrilled to work with AfterShokz and Ashworth Awards, as well as our other sponsors for The BibRave 100, to celebrate races and individuals taking the running industry to new heights.”
