Beachbody Performance Debuts Roster of Pros and Icons For Triathlon Sponsorships
August 24, 2016
Santa Monica, CA, August 24, 2016 – Beachbody Performance™ announced today new partnerships with several professional triathletes and luminaries of the multisport world. From podium-topping pros like Joe Gambles to celebrated world champions and Hall of Famers like Michellie Jones and Siri Lindley, the eight athletes selected represent some of the world’s most celebrated triathlon talent, and a continuation of Beachbody Performance’s increasing dedication to the endurance and multisport worlds.
The athletes will serve in a variety of roles for Beachbody Performance, from giving seminars at IRONMAN® triathlons in North America to using the product on a regular basis, sharing their honest experiences and providing feedback to the company on further product development.
“These athletes are some of the best in the world in the sport of triathlon, and they’re tremendous ambassadors for Beachbody Performance,” said Beachbody Co-Founder Jon Congdon. “They were selected not just for their performance, though. Each and every one of them is an influencer in the multisport world and, more importantly, they’re just good people. We’re proud to be working with them and look forward to using their insights for developing future products and to build meaningful relationships within the triathlete community.”
Beachbody Performance was named in May as the Official Sports Nutrition Supplement of the IRONMAN North American Series of triathlon races, and last month announced the first-ever activation of a Recover Zone to be at the finish line of all remaining 2016 as well as 2017 IRONMAN triathlons in North America.
“As an athlete and coach I’ve been involved in the sport for close to three decades, and I’ve had the chance to use nearly every product on the market. I’ve incorporated Beachbody Performance products in my training and racing over the past few months and I am truly impressed with their quality and effectiveness,” said Olympic Silver Medalist and IRONMAN World Champion Michellie Jones. “Not only do they taste great, I find that I’m recovering better than ever and ready to do what I love again the next day.”
The Beachbody Performance sponsored professional triathletes and icons include:
Australian athlete Rebekah Keat, who has raced at an elite level since exploding onto the scene as a junior with world titles in both triathlon and duathlon. With more than 20 years in the sport, Keat’s accolades include the fifth fastest female time in IRONMAN history (8:39), a number one world long distance ranking (2011-2012), multiple long course victories (including six IRONMAN triathlon wins) and two top-six IRONMAN World Championship finishes. She lives, trains and coaches numerous other athletes from her home in Boulder, Colorado.
A childhood soccer player and swimmer, American Kelly Williamson continued on to collegiate swimming at the University of Illinois and ITU racing before making the jump to long-distance triathlon. An IRONMAN Champion (Texas 2014) with ten IRONMAN 70.3 victories, Colorado Springs-based Williamson shares her passion for the sport as a coach with Durata Training.
Emma-Kate “EK” Lidbury, a Boulder-based Brit, discovered the sport while working as a journalist. Since earning her first professional title in 2011, Lidbury has become a podium regular on the IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 circuit, with a collection of IRONMAN 70.3 wins and two top-ten IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship finishes.
Born in England, raised in Tasmania and now full-time Boulder resident, Joe Gambles’ accolades are many. His career highlights include a win at the 2010 IRONMAN Wisconsin triathlon (his debut at full-distance IRONMAN), gold at the 2008 ITU Long Distance European Championships, silver at the 2011 ITU Long Distance World Championship, bronze at the 2013 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship and an unprecedented five IRONMAN 70.3 Boulder victories.
Since bursting onto the scene with a win at the 2006 ITU World Duathlon Championship in his rookie pro season, Australian Leon Griffin has become a well-known IRONMAN 70.3 podium regular. The Boulder, Colorado resident aims to build on that foundation with an equally successful IRONMAN career, with the 2017 IRONMAN World Championship firmly in his sights.
Bend, Oregon-based Matt Lieto was a latecomer to the sport after shedding 80 pounds and uncovering his talent and passion for triathlon. Now known equally for his cycling prowess and his media personality as a commentator on the IRONMAN circuit, Lieto recently scored a USA Duathlon National Championship to add to his collection of top 10 IRONMAN triathlon finishes and IRONMAN 70.3 podiums.
One of the winningest triathletes in the history of the sport, Australian Michellie “MJ” Jones has left her mark on each of triathlon’s distances and disciplines. Her 175+ career victories include the IRONMAN World Championship (2006) and the XTERRA World Championship (1996). Jones made history as triathlon’s first Olympic silver medalist (Sydney 2000) and will serve as a guide in paratriathlon’s Paralympic debut in Rio. Though no longer racing professionally, Jones, a resident of Carlsbad, California, competes whenever possible and coaches an impressive roster of amateur athletes.
A triathlon and aquathon World Champion in 2001, American Siri Lindley’s athletic success led to her inclusion in the USA Triathlon Hall of Fame. The Boulder, Colorado native now enjoys sharing her zeal for sport through her full-time coaching business, SIRIUS Athletes, Inc. Lindley has coached athletes to Olympic Medals, professional and amateur IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship crowns, national championship wins and number one world rankings. Her autobiographical story of inspiration, Surfacing, is due out in October (VeloPress).
